Update on Trash Bin situation

NYC TRASH BIN UPDATE
After sharing your concerns about the trash bins with the New York City Department of Sanitation, they have extended the deadline to September 8th.

See the message from DSNY below:
New Yorkers have bought over ONE MILLION durable, rodent-resistant NYC Bins ahead of the June 1 deadline.

But if you haven't gotten yours yet, don't fret: we will be issuing WARNINGS ONLY through Labor Day, with no summonses issued for using your current bin until September 8.

🚨UPDATE: Following concerns raised by Borough President Vito Fossella and many Staten Island residents regarding the shortage of official NYC trash bins, the City will now extend the containerization deadline through Labor Day.

We thank DSNY Commissioner Gregory Anderson for hearing our concerns and working with us to ensure Staten Islanders have a fair opportunity to comply with the new rules without unnecessary penalties.
