What a beautiful fall day here in Happy Valley!
I came into work today to catch up on some paperwork and it's so quiet in here today....
I was sitting here thinking about our folks that we spend our time with and just had an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
Sometimes, the simplest blessings are found in the simplest moments......
the face of a client when you arrive at their door, a shared laugh and just knowing we can be there when they need us the most.
At Houck Family Services, we're thankful we get to be that someone.
We are thankful to be invited into their homes and it's a privilage to care for those that need us!

We thank those that choose Houck Family Services, you give us so much to be grateful for.

Time is precious....
How blessed are we to spend it with the people who allow us in their homes to laugh with, talk with and spend time making memories. I love that we spend our days with people who we get to care for and that love us right back.

Caregiving is more than a career, it is a calling from the heart.
Caregiving isn't just what we do; it's who we are.
Every person we care for reminds me why I chose this path...
Everyone deserves to be loved, heard and cared for,

Captain Jack Sparrow visited us this morning and is out delivering some Halloween treats to our special clients. We have some other "characters" out also so more fun pictures to come. This staff is amazing and I'm so thankful that they have a heart to have some fun and brighten our client's day.

A special thank you to Danielle Homan, Kim Brungart, Addie Lose, Jessie and Jason Hampton, Chris Pullen, Jaimie Torres and Megan Alterio.

A little Wednesday warmth....

My Dad...My Hero....Always

On National Hero Day, I want to honor the man who will forever be my greatest hero, my Dad.

He was a veteran, a local contractor for 46 years, a craftsman and most importantly the best dad a daughter could ever ask for.

He spent his life building homes but he did more than that, he built a foundation of love, strength and a beautiful life for us kids. He left a legacy of love when he passed.

To the world, he was a contractor, a veteran, church going, hard working man. To me and my siblings he was our teacher, our safe place and our hero. He was a man that offered quiet wisdom and sometimes tough love when necessary.

Some heroes wear capes, mine wore work boots, carried tools and showed me what unconditional love means.

Of all the things my dad built in his lifetime, the most beautiful was the love and memories he left in my heart.

I will forever be proud to be his daughter. I cherish every lesson, every sacrifice he made to take care of his family.

Happy National Hero Day Dad...
You were my first and will always be my greatest.

Caregivers don't need the spotlight because their light shines through everything they do.

It shines in the hands that gently help someone through their day. It's in their voice that says..."I'm right here"
It's in every meal prepared and in every quiet moment in companionship.

Whether you care for someone professionally, care for a parent, a spouse, a child or a friend-
You are making a difference!

Caregivers don't ask for recognition. They simply show up, give from their hearts and make someone's world a little brighter.

You may never stand in the spotlight, but never doubt YOU are the light.
