Let’s Talk Skunks

February and March is breeding time here in our area.
Male skunks will travel many miles looking for females that are in estrous.
Females give birth to 3 to 10 young after a 62-75 day gestation period.
Juvenile skunks are born with their scent glands but cannot effectively aim it until their eyes are open. Juvenile skunks are weaned at about 6-7 weeks. They become independent at about 2.5 months and can live up to 10 years.
