🇺🇸✊🏾 LABOR DAY: HONORING THE HANDS THAT BUILT, SERVED & FOUGHT FOR CHANGE
This Labor Day, I as the Founder, my family and those I employ celebrate more than a day off. We honor the generations of workers who fought for fair wages, safer working conditions, dignity, opportunity, and equality in the workplace.
For African Americans, the history of labor in America carries a particularly powerful story—from the forced labor that helped build this nation, to emancipation, to Black workers organizing for economic freedom and demanding a rightful place in America’s workforce.
We honor pioneers such as A. Philip Randolph, whose leadership helped advance the rights of Black workers and challenge discrimination in employment, and Bayard Rustin, whose organizing helped connect the fight for civil rights with the fight for economic justice.
We also honor the women whose labor and leadership too often went unrecognized—women like Addie Wyatt, a trailblazing Black labor leader who fought for workers’ rights while also advocating for racial and gender equality.
And we honor the countless Black women who worked as domestic workers, caregivers, cleaners, factory workers, educators, healthcare workers, entrepreneurs and professionals—often while facing both racial and gender discrimination.
Their work mattered.
Their voices mattered.
Their courage created opportunities for generations that followed.
As a Black woman-owned business, Labor Day is also a reminder of how far we have come—and of the responsibility to continue creating opportunities where people are respected, valued and fairly compensated for their work.
Today, we honor the pioneers.
We honor the workers.
We honor the women.
We honor those whose names history may never record—but whose labor helped build this country.
