From a single spark in Philly, where the heavy gavel fell,
To the rolling smoke of Yorktown and the ringing of the bell,
A fragile dream was written down on parchment in the night,
That all are born with equal claim to liberty and light.
Through the fractures of the Civil War, the nation tore and mended,
Across the plains and iron rails, the frontier lines extended.
From the factories of the Union to the ships at Normandy,
And the voices marching arm-in-arm for true equality.
Two hundred fifty years of strides, of triumphs, and of tears,
We build upon the echoes of those monumental years.
From thirteen stars to fifty strong beneath the summer sun,
The ancient promise carries on: from many, we are one.
Happy 250th Birthday America!
