This house fire could have been prevented had the owner addressed the rodent problem before it was too late. The cause was determined to be wires that had been chewed.

Yes, mice are adorable. They are also incredibly destructive if not kept out of our homes.

Got fruit flies? Put about 1/2-1 cup of apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Add 3-5 drops of dish soap.

Sit on the counter and this is the end result in just a couple of days ⤵️

Also, pour boiling water down your drains to compromise one of the main breeding grounds!

Lantern fly adults! If you've been wondering why yellow jackets have been so bad this year, here's your answer!

The yellow jackets use lantern fly excrement (honeydew) as a food supply. It's pure carbohydrates and super charges them. It also allows them to linger well into fall and even early winter.

At the present time we're seeing 2nd and 3rd stage spotted lantern fly nymphs in our area.

They are beautiful but very destructive to certain trees; maple, tree of heaven, and nut trees primarily.

Additionally, in large numbers the honeydew they excrete will cause sticky messes everywhere. This honeydew will attract other nuisance pests in large numbers like yellow jackets, ants, and certain mites.

If you have them you will want to perform control measures.

Fun pest control fact for the day. These are red aphids on a black eye Susan plant.

Aphids are called ant cows because ants keep them in herds and "milk" them for their honeydew. Ants will actually guard aphids and shepherd them to new host plants once they destroy the old one.

No pesticidal measures were needed. I sprayed them with a mix of water and a few drops of dawn dish soap and then wiped them off of the plant.

Lantern fly nymphs are here. It's easy to miss these tree killing little SOBs because they're so small. If you see them kill them! Or call my office if you need professional help 717-229-9818. I'm there 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.

This is a box elder bug. They are starting to make their spring appearance. They can become bothersome because they typically emerged by the hundreds.

They don't bite and they don't damage a home. However, they can leave f***l spots that can stain light colored surfaces.

If left alone they will typically be a nuisance in the spring and fall only.
