Water flushing in Lake Wilderness.

Lake Wilderness residents received a voice mail from Aqua, the Lake Wilderness water company, around 6 pm on Sunday, February 16, informing the community that they would be performing "routine maintenance" on our water system for the entire coming week.
This flushing will be from 8 am to 4 pm for the week beginning Monday, February 17 through Friday, February 21. They recommend that residents avoid running their washing machines and dishwaters during this time period to avoid discoloration or damage.

Many residents have felt Our community should have been informed of this VERY sudden action well before the day it is going into effect. In addition the aqua message was garbled in some versions. Those who had planned to wash clothing and dishes on Monday may be especially upset. Questions need to be asked of Aqua so this type of late notice does not occur in the future.

FREE FIREWOOD

Contractor Keith Barber who is working on Grant Dam is offering free firewood from the downed trees per contract to all residents.

Due to the excessive rainfall, the ground has become saturated in some areas which is causing trees to fall on the power lines even after the storm has passed. As a result, some of our members are experiencing power outages or momentary blinks. We appreciate your patience.

Peak Energy-Use Day Expected


As Dangerous Heat Continues, We Need Your Help Again

Heat indexes today again will approach 100 degrees in many parts of REC's service territory. While we can't do anything about these scorching temperatures, together we can take steps to reduce energy use.

Summer electricity use drives the price REC pays for power. We expect today to be a peak energy-use day.

Here are 4 ways to do your part to conserve energy:

Between 3 and 6 p.m., turn up the temperature on your thermostat a few degrees. REC recommends a setting of 78 degrees or higher.
When you turn the thermostat setting back down after 6 p.m., be sure to do so 2 degrees at a time. This will reduce the strain on your HVAC and help keep your energy use from spiking.
Avoid using your oven or stove. If possible, prepare dinner on the grill outside.
Delay washing dishes or clothes - hold off on using any hot water until later tonight.

If we all do our part, together we can make a difference!
