--Snowfall Potential: Friday PM thru Sunday AM--
The potential for a winter storm is increasing for this upcoming weekend late Friday into Saturday, finishing up by Sunday morning. Two waves of energy are expected, the first being on Thursday into Thursday PM. That will likely feature rain more than snow, however a changeover to snow once we get colder is possible Thursday night into Friday morning. I may need to issue an additional snowfall forecast on that as well if needed. Then, a second wave will move in with colder air to work with, and that will be what I am currently forecasting based off of this map.
Currently, the highest confidence for the heaviest amount of snow is across portions of northern WI where some additional lake enhancement is possible in addition to what will fall from the system. A large swath of moderate snow is likely, with the possibility for some of those in red to receive heavy snow. Light snow is likely, with the possibility for some of those in blue to receive moderate snow. Typically, I classify heavy snow as anything 6" or MORE, moderate snow as anything 3" or MORE, and light snow as less than 3".
This will more than likely impact any plans that you may have throughout the weekend, so stay tuned for my First Call Snowfall Forecast for this event, which will be issued tomorrow morning/early afternoon.
