Happy Halloween from the WaveMAX team! 🎃

Tonight is all about the kids walking three streets farther than they probably should, the neighbors who went all out on their porch setups, and whoever is holding down the fort by the front door handing out the goodies.

It’s definitely going to be chilly out there tonight. Go ahead and throw the coat on over the costume, and just accept that the epic debate about it is half the tradition anyway. 🧥👻

Have fun with it! Let them stay out those extra twenty minutes. And once everyone is finally asleep, raid the good stuff from the bucket, because let’s be honest, that’s the real tradition.

Whatever mystery stains that costume comes home covered in? That’s a problem for later in the week, not tonight.

The coats are coming out of storage this week, and the down ones are where people do real damage without meaning to.
Down is not fabric, it is thousands of separate clusters that trap air. Wet, they clump together. If you dry a puffer with nothing knocking it apart, those clumps set hard, and a coat that dries matted has lost most of its warmth permanently. No amount of fluffing brings it back.
So wash it on gentle with a small amount of detergent, skip the fabric softener entirely because it coats the down and kills the loft, and dry it on low heat with two or three clean tennis balls in the drum. It takes longer than you expect. Keep going until there is not a single damp lump left anywhere in it.
If that sounds like a job you would rather not risk, bring it to us. We do a lot of them this time of year.

It came out of the box and it looks fine. What you cannot see is where it has been for twelve months.

A year in a plastic tote in a garage or a basement, and the fabric picks up damp, dust and that shut-away smell that nobody wants pressed against a kid's face for three hours.

Most costumes are thin polyester with the trim glued on rather than sewn. That means cold water, turned inside out, and air drying flat. A hot dryer melts glued sequins, shrinks a cape a full size and warps a molded mask permanently.

Do it this week rather than the afternoon of, because air drying is not fast and nobody wants that particular argument at five o'clock.

And bring it back afterward before it goes away again. Whatever gets put up dirty comes out worse next October, and next October is the one time you cannot fix it.

Fast. Clean. Easy.

Chicago has better than 11,000 active short term rental listings. Indianapolis has close to 5,000, Detroit and Cleveland around 4,000 each, Minneapolis and Cincinnati just behind them.

Guests forgive a lot. A confusing lockbox, a slow router, a parking situation nobody explained. They do not forgive sheets that feel like somebody else slept in them, and that particular complaint goes in the review and stays there for years.

We run linen for hosts, cleaners and property managers. Sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, bath and hand towels, bath mats and the throws that end up on every rental sofa. Sorted, washed at commercial temperature, dried through and folded flat so they stack straight into the closet.

Most hosts with more than one unit set a standing weekly order. The cleaner picks up a finished stack on the way over instead of waiting on a third load in a basement.

Anybody can put three words on a wall. The only question worth asking is whether somebody could walk in and catch us failing at them.

Clean is the floor, the folding tables, the tops of the machines and the restroom, checked through the day rather than once at close. A laundromat that is clean at nine and not at four has not actually done it.

Convenient is enough capacity that nobody is circling on a Sunday afternoon waiting for something to open up, and a wash, dry and fold service for the weeks when you would rather not be here at all.

Courteous is the one that decides whether you come back. Somebody looks up when you walk in. Somebody answers the question about the setting instead of pointing at a sign. Somebody gets the door when your arms are full.

Not complicated. Just either done or not, and you can tell in about a minute.

Clean. Convenient. Courteous.

Un salón ocupado gasta más toallas de las que cualquiera se imagina. Entre lavados, tintes, barba y manicura, un sábado se lleva pilas enteras.

Casi todos empiezan igual: una lavadora chiquita atrás, alguien corriendo a meter una carga entre cliente y cliente, y toallas todavía húmedas cuando ya se necesitan.

Nosotros lo resolvemos. Toallas, capas, batas y tapetes lavados a temperatura comercial, secados por completo y doblados, con horario fijo para que nunca se quede sin toallas limpias a media tarde.

El tinte también es cosa nuestra. Lo tratamos aparte para que no arruine el resto de su ropa blanca.

Archery opened on the first of October and fi***rm season lands in the middle of November. More than 600,000 people bought a Michigan deer licence last year alone, and that is one state out of the several we serve.

Field clothes take a beating that ordinary laundry does not. Blood, dirt, brush, sweat and a week of sitting in the truck, and then most of it goes back in the bin without being properly dealt with.

Two things worth knowing. Anything with blood on it wants cold water, because hot sets it permanently. And blaze orange is a dye that fades fast in hot washes, so a hunting vest run on the same cycle as the towels will not be legally bright for long.

Bring it in and we will handle the whole kit the way it needs handling, including the base layers and the camp bedding.

Then it is clean for the next sit instead of clean in March.

People are funny about the size of the bag. They come in apologizing, or they split it across two trips so it looks more reasonable, or they leave half in the car.

There is no need. We weigh it, we do it, that is the whole transaction. Nobody here is keeping score and nobody is going to say anything about how long it has been.

Bring it all in one go, mixed exactly as it is. We separate by color and by fabric, wash each group the way it wants to be washed, dry it to the right point and fold it so it stacks flat into a drawer.

The bigger the bag, honestly, the more this is worth doing. One trip clears weeks.
