🐝 Friend or Foe? A Quick Guide for Our Neighbors! 🌸
We’ve all been there—you’re enjoying a glass of iced tea on the porch or working in the garden, and something starts buzzing around your head. Your first instinct might be to duck and cover, but did you know most of our flying friends are actually on "team human"?
We wanted to share this handy guide to help you identify who is visiting your yard this week!
✨ The "Good Neighbors" (Bumble, Honey, Mason, & more)
These guys are the hard workers of the garden. They are mostly interested in your flowers and rarely want anything to do with you. If you see them, give them a wave and let them keep pollinating!
🏡 The "Home Destroyers " (Carpenter Bees)
While they look like friendly Bumble Bees, keep an eye on your woodwork. They are famous for "drilling" into decks and siding, which can lead to moisture issues if left unmanaged.
🤨 The "Moody Roommates" (Paper & Potter Wasps)
These are the ones that like to build nests under your eaves. While they look a bit more intimidating, they are generally "leave me alone and I'll leave you alone" types. Just keep an eye on where they are building so they don't get too close to your front door!
🚫 The "Party Crashers" (Hornets & Yellow Jackets)
These are the ones that give the others a bad name. They can be protective and a bit "mean" if you get too close to their space. If you find a nest of these near your kids' play area or patio, that’s when it’s time to take extra care.
If any of these flying bugs are bothering your home or yard, remember, we are always here for our neighbors!
