Vanilla Sponge Cake
A light, airy, and versatile sponge cake perfect for layer cakes and celebrations.
Ingredients
* 4 large eggs
* 1 cup (200 g) sugar
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 1 cup (125 g) cake flour, sifted
* ¼ tsp salt
* 2 tbsp melted butter
* 2 tbsp milk
Method
1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
2. Grease and line an 8-inch (20 cm) cake pan.
3. Beat eggs and sugar for 6–8 minutes until pale and tripled in volume.
4. Add vanilla extract.
5. Gently fold in sifted flour and salt.
6. Fold in warm milk and melted butter.
7. Pour into the prepared pan.
8. Bake for 25–30 minutes.
9. Cool completely before slicing.
