It is with great sorrow that I announce the closing of Don’t Bless This Mess as a housecleaning service. I have waited a year to make this announcement, as I was hoping I’d have experienced more healing than I have. Physically I cannot handle this work anymore. I’m literally in tears over this, as I have spent the past 5 years building my business and securing a good reputation through hard work, sweat, blood and tears. I’ve worked 4 hour days, I’ve worked 14 hour days, and I’ve had clients who have become an extension of my family. I have loved doing this work!

A year ago today I was involved in a car accident. The accident totaled my vehicle and left me with permanent damage to my leg and back as well as some lingering issues with my neck. There were 4 vehicles involved (I was car 3). Three of us were stopped when a young man on his cell phone ran into me at 54mph. I have had many months of physical therapy, doctors appointments, a surgery and now am at the point where it is pain and symptom management for the rest of my life. This has been a mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting year.

I give a special shoutout to my hardworking husband, who has busted his butt every single day to keep food on the table, bills paid and our vehicles running as smoothly as possible. Thank you for never complaining about my inability to add to our finances or the days I simply cannot move much. Babe, you have been such a treasure to me and I thank God for you every day!

I will continue to give advice, tips, and encouragement to people. So while I cannot physically do this work anymore, the knowledge I have will not be wasted. I may even post some recipes on green methods of housecleaning.

You, my clients, have been amazing. The grace people have shown me since my accident has me in my feelings today. I appreciate all of you. Thank you for bringing a sparkle into my life while I brought a sparkle into your home. ✨

I am looking for cleaners who would like to volunteer to a 2 day project to help with one client’s hoarding clean. This is a special case. I really could use 2-3 trustworthy people willing to donate their time to help. No backing out. Once you commit, I expect you to be there, so please do not say you’ll do it if you are one who commonly backs out of things. I and the client will provide cleaning supplies for this job. Any PPE you wish to have needs to be self-supplied (masks, suits, foot covers, gloves). There are two living rooms, two bedrooms, a kitchen and a bath. Location is in Maple Lanes on SB’s northwest side.

Backstory: I was doing weekly cleanings, but I was in a serious car accident in June and was unable to clean for about two months. This person needs weekly cleanings to keep up. I can keep up after this. She has POTS and a slew of other health issues that have been disabling the last two years and she is stuck in bed a good majority of the time. Her son is autistic and has brittle bone syndrome. They have a very elderly dog with incontinence issues and have had mice, which we are trying to evict from the premises but that has been difficult because of the mess. I’m still recovering from my accident and me doing all of this alone would take me a full week of long work days. I cannot do it alone. We need help!

I’m planning the work days for sometime early May. I kind of want this to be a surprise for Mother’s Day. She trusts me, and I have permission to bring in help when I need to. I can maintain it weekly once it is done.

Again, this is a VOLUNTEER position. We will not be recording this - I’m not looking for TikTok influencers who wish to boost their following. Only I will be permitted to take pics, and only the ones that she gives the ok to will be able to be posted (those she says ok to will be shared with the cleaners as well so they can add it to their cleaning page if they want to). I’m looking for cleaners with a huge heart. I will provide a dinner for us at a pizza place at the end of the second day. Any cleaner who steps in to help will get a huge shoutout on both my cleaning page and wherever I am able to post it. Why? Because I believe good people should be recognized for the work they do from the heart, without having to toot their own horns!

If you are willing to do this with me, please message me with your availability and I can provide you with more details.

Stop. Using. Toilet. Bowl. Cleaner. In. Your. Shower. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

Folks, quit doing it, quit suggesting it and for heaven’s sake, stop making videos touting this as a miracle cleaner for ANYTHING other than toilets. This trend is dangerous and damaging. I don’t care if you don’t see damage right away. It is happening.

You’re etching tiles. You’re removing protective coats. You’re discoloring surfaces. You’re removing the sealing on grout.

Be smart, not lazy, and definitely don’t use your client’s homes as the place to play cleaning product roulette. That is simply disrespectful. Just because you saw a cleaner use a “hack” does not mean it is a safe hack, or at least not necessarily safe for the surface you’re using it on.

— On a side note, would you believe this post got me suspended from Secrets From A Cleaning Lady group? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Apparently the truth is considered bullying 🙄 I left the group. I cannot endorse a group that silences the truth. —

This has been quite the year for me, with a lot of ups and downs. I got married, had a bad car accident, my husband has had surgery twice. Due to the accident, I have had to let a lot of my cleaning clients go so I can physically keep up with my workload with the few lingering clients I haven chosen to keep due to them being elderly or disabled.

2026 is going to have a new focus. I am no longer taking on regularly scheduled weekly, bi-weekly or monthly clients. What I will be doing this coming year is continuing to do hoarding cleans, one time cleans for holidays or special events, organizing, and rescue cleans. I’m also still doing pet nail trims and bathing. So if you need me, I’m around and you can reach out to me.

It has been a pleasure to be able to serve in the way I have the past few years. Change isn’t easy for me, and if I wasn’t in pain my schedule would still be completely full. I have appreciated each of you that has referred me to others, given me reviews both on here and on the Next Door App, been patient with me when I’ve had scheduling conflicts or health concerns, and have basically become like extended family to me.

You are the BEST part of me doing this. I appreciate all of you!
