🛥️ Boating with Kids? Use This Important Family Safety Checklist
Boating season is in full swing! Keep your family safe on the water with these essential steps:
✅ Everyone wears a properly fitted life jacket before the boat even leaves the dock (no exceptions)
✅ Designate a “Water Watcher” one adult whose only job is to watch the kids at all times
✅ Create a Float Plan: tell someone where you’re going, who’s on board, and when you’ll return
✅ Safety Gear Ready: throwable life rings, working VHF radio or charged phone in a waterproof case
✅ Cold Water Awareness, even in summer, our rivers and lakes stay dangerously cold

Safety isn’t luck, it’s preparation.

Tag your boating friends and family 👇 Let’s make this a safe summer on the water! ❤️

The Somerset Pulaski County Rescue Squad trusted Frontline Dive and Recovery to certify four of their members in our first SDI Open Water course.

Congratulations to David Caldwell, Dylan Coomer, Greg Haynes, and Seth Maybrier on successfully completing their checkout dives and earning their SDI Open Water Diver certifications. These aren’t just new divers—they’re now trained assets capable of supporting real-world operations and serving their community at a higher level.

Last weekend, we certified two additional rescue squad members, Jimmie E Foster and Tanner Whitaker along with our very own Larry E. Sellers Jr. (Owner/Service Manager), in Full Face Mask and Dry Suit—expanding operational capability in environments where standard recreational setups fall short.

This is exactly what we’re building: divers who are competent, confident, and mission-ready.

Spring is here, and our schedule is already filling. If you’re thinking about getting certified or advancing your training, don’t wait until spots are gone.

Message us or call 606-252-1000 to reserve your seat.

Great information, especially for Lake Cumberland.

🚨 WHAT TO DO IN THE FIRST 10 MINUTES
IF SOMEONE GOES MISSING NEAR WATER 🚨

Time matters. What you do right away can make a real difference.

🔴 1. STAY CALM & LOCK DOWN THE LAST SEEN POINT
Where were they last seen? Mark that exact spot. This is critical.

📞 2. CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY
Don’t wait. Early response = better outcome.

👀 3. KEEP EYES ON THE WATER
Look for movement, clothing, bubbles, anything unusual; but DO NOT enter the water unless you’re trained.

🚫 4. DO NOT START RANDOM SEARCHING
Uncoordinated searches can destroy evidence and make things harder for SAR teams.

📍 5. NOTE CONDITIONS
Time, weather, current, water type; this info helps trained teams act fast and correctly.

🤝 6. CONTACT QUALIFIED HELP
If you need guidance or support, reach out. Getting the right people involved early matters.

Interested in taking the next step after your Open Water certification? We have a couple of spots left . . . .

This course is designed to expand your capabilities, build real confidence underwater, and introduce you to multiple advanced diving environments—all in one weekend.

You’ll complete six dives over two days, including deep, navigation, night/low visibility, shore diving, and two advanced buoyancy dives—earning your Advanced Buoyancy Control Certification.

Training will take place at Holly Bay on Laurel Lake. Water conditions can be cool—5mm exposure protection is strongly recommended.

Students will receive two eLearning programs:
• Advanced Adventurer Diver
• Advanced Buoyancy Control

Both must be completed by May 15th in order to participate.

Spots are limited. Once eLearning codes are issued, no refunds are available.

Message us on Facebook or call/text 606-252-1000 to reserve your spot.

First recovery of the year!

We received the phone call about 6:00 p.m. requesting a diver to recover a phone lost in Fishing Creek.

By 8:00 p.m. we had our boat, two divers, and all of our gear loaded and on the lake and on-site by 8:30. 30 minutes later the phone was recovered and back in the owner’s hand.

Dark didn’t stop the operation—we’re equipped to work day or night when the job calls for it.

Depth was approximately 25 feet.
Water clarity was surprisingly good.
Water temp was 64° at the surface and 58° at depth.

The phone was still ON at 25 feet.

As you can see the phone was still fully functional underwater. Though I obviously failed at getting a good selfie down there.

A lot of people are surprised when we tell them phones can still work after being underwater—but we see it more often than you’d think. One of our more extreme recoveries last year was a phone from 130 feet that had been down for over a week and a half… and it still powered on and worked.

That’s what a real recovery looks like.

Huge thank you to our customer for trusting us with the job.

If you’ve lost something in the lake—phone, keys, glasses, or anything else—we’ve got you covered. We handle recovery, inspection, and service work below the surface. (And don't forget we teach scuba also!)
