No swiping Swiper!!
It’s a great time to discuss our cameras again !!
Today’s unfortunate events in a nut shell.
I won’t load the four camera angles and audio due to minors involved! However if any parties decide to view them. They are saved in the cloud and on my phone.
Approximately 5:44 this afternoon a customer complained about some money she left on a washer being gone after she stepped out to her vehicle ( she did not leave the premises). We watched the footage and confirmed the time she left it and the time that a juvenile ( with parents and sibling ) picked it up , placed it on a blanket by the father. Father folded blanket over it. Nothing was said
Owner of money came back in. Asked the family of four did they see or take it. All claimed no knowledge. At this point is when we got involved. Through the cameras we contacted the family explained what we watched and asked for it to be returned.
Over the next several minutes the family is seen counting money while the mother is dropping f bombs and stating the lady shouldn’t have left money and they didn’t have it. The father decided to confront workers in the gun store who again have NOTHING to do with the laundromat !
At this point i was notified and dropped what I was doing to go address the situation after learning the mother was belligerent towards the lady that lost the money. ( all this is ready to show anyone that doubts the story )
Upon arriving , I stepped inside. Asked the father to step outside so as he could view the footage and we come up with a resolution away from the minors. Immediately before he even stepped out he is telling his family to gather their belongings. He refused to view the footage !! His wife threatened to contact her lawyer. lol. To which I clearly told her please do. It wouldn’t be an issue with me in time nor money to show a lawyer or judge what I have in 4k. She declined to view it as well.
As a father if my child was accused of something and I was told. There was footage. You are damn right I’m watching it. But I digress. Point is. I had it on film. It could have been a teaching moment. But instead it was a very very tense situation to say the least.
The mother stormed back in. Cussed the other customer up and down. And stormed back out.
The teenage child screamed at us all to stop and I asked her to just look at her father and admit she picked it up. She paused and then said “I guess I picked it up with ours !” The parents told her get in the vehicle and continued to cuss and threaten everyone.
It truly saddens me that regardless of it being took on purpose or by accident that the parents refused to simply view the footage. I am sure they will bash me and my business. Since I also have the mother saying if she winds up on my Facebook she would sue. Even though the law is very very clear on our rights to use footage from the cameras that are in place and warning signs in six prominent locations. But again. Legal battles don’t scare me.
I am taking the high road and not posting the pictures and over 23 minutes of total footage from all angles. Only because a minor is involved. If anyone wants to view it to verify this whole story. I will gladly meet for you to view it. This includes all parties involved.
In a climate when so many teens are getting in trouble mostly due to poor parenting. Parents should take any moments they can make a teaching moment seriously. But I suppose not everyone is alike in that way of thinking. I honestly don’t fault the teen. I want to think she did it by accident. But the parents not being willing to remain calm and view the footage well that’s a deep subject.
