While performing a termite treatment, we found active termite swarmers in a drop ceiling inside the building. This is the time of year when termites start flying to form new colonies, and it’s often when hidden activity finally becomes noticeable.
Swarmers inside usually mean termites have already been active in the structure for some time, even if no damage has been seen yet. They can show up in walls, ceilings, crawl spaces, and other hidden areas.

This time of year we commonly find:
• Flying termites indoors
• Wings on window sills or floors
• Mud tubes along walls or foundation
• Activity in crawl spaces, attics, and wall voids
• Hidden infestations behind trim, cabinets, or ceilings

With the warm weather, termite activity is picking up quickly across all areas of Hampton Roads.
If you see insects that look like ants with wings, or notice swarmers inside, it’s a good idea to have it checked before the problem spreads.

Termites don’t stop working… and neither do we.
During a recent follow-up inspection of a termite baiting system I installed around this property, I opened one of the stations and found active termite feeding. As you can see in the photos, the termites have located the station and are actively consuming the bait.

This is exactly how a termite baiting system is designed to work.

The stations are placed around the structure to intercept termites as they travel through the soil. Once termites begin feeding, the bait is shared throughout the colony. Over time, this process eliminates the colony at its source, helping protect the home from structural damage.

The key is regular monitoring. Catching activity early allows us to keep the bait active and ensure the colony continues feeding until it's eliminated.
This is why ongoing inspections are so important. Termites work 24/7 underground, often without any visible signs until serious damage has already occurred.

If your home isn’t protected, or if it’s been a while since your last termite inspection, now is the time to check.
