Still Standing After the Storm

That was a wild one. With winds over 80 mph last night, Sioux Falls and surrounding areas took a hit — especially with trees, fences, and yards. We’ve seen some major cleanup across the city and know a lot of long-standing trees didn’t make it.

A bat in the Brandon/Sioux Falls area has recently tested positive for rabies, according to public health reports.

While this is rare, it’s a serious reminder that bats inside or near the home should never be ignored. Rabies can be transmitted through bites or even minor contact — and it’s almost always fatal if untreated.
