💧 Thinking About Switching from Chlorine or Salt? Here’s Why More Pool Owners Are Going Mineral… 🏊‍♂️

For years, pools have been either chlorine or salt… but there’s a newer, easier option: mineral systems.

Here’s why more homeowners are making the switch 👇

🌿
1. Use Less Harsh Chemicals
Mineral systems use copper and zinc to help control bacteria and algae, meaning you can use much lower chlorine levels.
✔️ Less chemical smell
✔️ Less irritation to eyes & skin

💦
2. Softer, Clearer Water
Many people say mineral pools feel more like natural water instead of harsh, chemically-treated water.

🧼
3. Easier Maintenance
With systems like the ClearBlue Mineral Lion Pool Ionizer, the controller regulates mineral levels for you—making pool care more “set it and forget it.”
✔️ Fewer chemical adjustments
✔️ More consistent water balance

💸
4. Save on Chemicals Over Time
Because mineral systems reduce how much chlorine you need, many pool owners spend less on chemicals long-term.

5. Upgrade Your Pool Experience
The Mineral Lion system uses a controlled release of minerals to keep water clean while minimizing harsh additives.

⚠️ Important to Know:
Mineral systems don’t completely eliminate chlorine—you still use a small amount to keep your pool properly sanitized.

✨ Bottom line:
If you’re tired of strong chlorine smells, constant balancing, or high chemical costs, switching to a mineral system could be a game changer.

⚠️ What Happens If You Don’t Balance Your Pool Chemicals? 🏊‍♂️

Skipping chemical maintenance might not seem like a big deal… until your pool starts showing it 😬

Here’s what can happen 👇

💚 Algae take over
Low chlorine or poor balance = the perfect environment for green, cloudy water.

👀 Cloudy or dull water
Unbalanced water makes it harder for your filter and chemicals to do their job.

🔥 Skin & eye irritation
Improper pH levels can cause burning eyes, dry skin, and overall discomfort.

🧱 Damage to your pool & equipment
Water that’s too acidic or too alkaline can:
• Corrode metal parts
• Damage liners
• Cause scaling on surfaces

💸 More expensive repairs later
Ignoring it now often leads to bigger (and more costly) problems down the road.

✅ Keep your pool in check:

✔️ Test your water regularly
✔️ Maintain proper chlorine levels
✔️ Keep pH and alkalinity balanced
✔️ Stay consistent with maintenance

A balanced pool = a clean, safe, and stress-free swim 💦

🧽 Why Brushing Your Pool Matters 🏊‍♂️

A lot of pool owners think brushing the pool is optional… but it actually plays a big role in keeping your water clean and clear.

Here’s why 👇

💧 Prevents algae growth
Algae love to cling to pool walls and steps. Brushing breaks it up before it spreads.
💧 Helps chemicals work better
Brushing loosens dirt, oils, and buildup so chlorine can sanitize the water more effectively.
💧 Keeps your pool looking great
Regular brushing removes stains and buildup that can make your pool look dull or cloudy.
💧 Improves circulation
Brushing pushes debris into the water so your filter can remove it.

✅ Pro Tip:

Brush your pool at least once a week, paying extra attention to steps, corners, ladders, and behind lights — those are algae’s favorite hiding spots.

A little brushing goes a long way toward keeping your pool crystal clear 💦

💦 How Often Should You Backwash Your Pool Filter? 💦

Backwashing is important — but did you know doing it too often can actually reduce filtration efficiency?

Here’s the rule 👇

🔹 Backwash when your pressure gauge rises 8–10 PSI above normal.
That means your filter is dirty and needs cleaning.
Not sure what your “normal” is?
Check your gauge right after a fresh clean — that’s your baseline.

🏊 General Guidelines:
✔️ Sand filters: Usually every 3–4 weeks (but always go by pressure)
✔️ DE filters: When pressure rises 8–10 PSI
✔️ Cartridge filters: Don’t backwash — remove and rinse instead

⚠️ Pro Tips:
• Don’t backwash on a set schedule without checking pressure
• Always rinse after backwashing (sand filters)
• Make sure water level is mid-skimmer before starting
• Run pump 2–3 minutes or until water runs clear

Backwashing at the right time keeps your water clear and your equipment lasting longer 💙

POOL INSTALLATION AND REPAIRS 251-945-4769 - POOL EDUCATION AND TIP

🌧 Why Does Your Pool Turn Green After It Rains? 💚

Ever notice your pool looks cloudy or even green after a big storm? Here’s why:

💦 1. Rain dilutes your chemicals
Heavy rain lowers chlorine levels, which gives algae the chance to grow fast.

🍃 2. Debris feeds algae
Leaves, dirt, and pollen wash into the pool during storms. That organic matter becomes food for algae.

⚖️ 3. pH levels change
Rainwater can throw off your pool’s pH balance, making chlorine less effective.

✅ What You Should Do After It Rains:
✔️ Skim out debris
✔️ Brush the walls and steps
✔️ Check and balance chemicals
✔️ Shock the pool if needed
✔️ Run your pump longer (8–12 hours minimum)

If your pool already looks green — don’t wait! The longer algae sits, the harder (and more expensive) it is to clear.
