🇺🇸 Honoring Pvt. William Robinson — Cable Cemetery 🇺🇸

Today I’m taking a closer look at the story of Pvt. William Robinson, a Civil War veteran buried at Cable Cemetery near Syracuse, Indiana.

His government marker tells us:

Pvt. William Robinson
Company D
152nd Indiana Infantry
Union Army

William enlisted on February 13, 1865, near the end of the Civil War. The 152nd Indiana Infantry was organized at Indianapolis and served in West Virginia and the Shenandoah region before mustering out on August 30, 1865.

What makes this grave especially interesting is that there is still much we don’t know about William. His birth and death dates are currently unknown, and I’m working to uncover more about his life, his family, his military service, and how he came to rest here at Cable Cemetery.

Every old cemetery has stories waiting to be told. 🇺🇸

He served our country. Now it’s our turn to remember him.

I’ll be doing more research on Pvt. William Robinson and sharing what I can uncover about this forgotten Civil War veteran.

Getting ready for tomorrow! 🪦🇺🇸

Tomorrow I’ll be heading to Cable Cemetery in Syracuse, Indiana, also known as Dewart Lake Cemetery.

This is a small historic cemetery in Kosciusko County, with around 120 recorded burials. I’m looking forward to spending some time there, getting some work done, and helping take care of these old memorials.Pictures are from Find-A-Grave.

Every cemetery I visit has its own history and stories to tell. It’s always an honor to be able to help preserve these places and the memories of the people who are resting there.

Cable Cemetery, here I come! 💪🪦🇺🇸

As always, I’ll do my best to leave things a little better than I found them.

Yesterday was my last day at Chicago Corner Cemetery in New Castle, Indiana, for this season.

I spent the past week there working on monuments, and I’m proud to say I was able to get 29 monuments leveled or reset in just one week. There’s still plenty of work to be done, but it’s time for me to move on so I can try to help as many others as possible.

This season definitely didn’t go as planned. Having to take time off for surgery put me behind, and unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to get to everyone I had hoped to. I sincerely apologize to anyone I may not be able to get to this season. It’s not because I don’t want to help — there are simply only so many days left in the season.

For those I don’t make it to this year, I will do my best to start with you next season if you would still like me to. If you decide to make other arrangements, I completely understand.

Thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding, and continued support. It truly means a lot to me.

Next stop: Turkey Creek Township near Syracuse, Indiana.

On to the next cemetery and more monuments that need some care! 🇺🇸

On this day, Purple Heart Day, we recognize and honor the brave Americans who have sacrificed in service to our great nation.
The Purple Heart is one of America's oldest military decorations, originally established as the Badge of Military Merit by General George Washington on August 7, 1782.
