This is what happens when a candle is burned “just a little longer.”

That last inch of wax?
That “it’ll be fine for a few more minutes”?
That moment you leave the room to grab laundry, check on the baby, or run outside quick?

This is how fast fine turns into dangerous.

When a candle burns all the way down, the flame gets closer and closer to the glass. The remaining wax can’t protect it anymore. The heat builds, the glass weakens… and then it shatters. Sometimes quietly. Sometimes violently. Sometimes with enough heat to ignite whatever is nearby.

And here’s the part that made my stomach drop:

It doesn’t need hours.
It doesn’t need neglect.

We all love candles. The cozy feeling, the smell, the calm at the end of a long day. But they demand respect.

Please—
• Never leave a candle burning unattended
• Never burn it down to the very bottom (stop at about ½ inch of wax)
• Keep it away from anything flammable
• And if the jar ever looks damaged or overheated—don’t risk it

Because the truth is… fires don’t start with big dramatic moments.

They start with ordinary ones.
A quiet house.
A flickering flame.
And a decision that felt harmless at the time.
