Today, the Shelbyville Police Department joins our nation in remembering the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

We honor the brave first responders who ran toward danger, the innocent lives taken too soon, and the families who continue to carry their memory. We also remember the courage, sacrifice, and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

To our fellow law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, service members, and all who answered the call that day - your bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

We remember.

This act of remembrance doesn't happen in a vacuum. It takes a community to stand up and say, "We will not let them be forgotten."

Today, as we placed 2,977 American flags, we weren't just checking a box. We were honoring the lives taken in the vicious terrorist attacks of September 11th. Every flag you see here represents a man, woman, or child whose future was stolen in an act of pure, cowardly evil.

We want to extend our deepest appreciation to every single person who came out, spent their time, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us to make this memorial a reality. Your commitment to preserving the memory of the fallen is what keeps the spirit of this nation alive.

A special and sincere thanks to the Shelbyville Fire Department for once again being a willing and ready helping hand. We are grateful for your service and your dedication to standing with us whenever the call goes out.

They lived. We remember. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
