HOW TO WINTERIZE AN ABOVE GROUND POOL

💦CLEAN POOL 🧽
1. VACUUM POOL.
2. BRUSH WALLS & FLOOR.
3. BACKWASH & RINSE SAND FILTER or CLEAN CARTRIDGE.
4. TEST & BALANCE WATER
5. SANITIZE & SHOCK
1. CHLORINE/SALT/COPPER POOLS…
A. ADD 2 OUNCES OF PRISTINE CHECK PER 1,000 GALLONS OF WATER.
B. ADD 1 POUND OF PRISTINE EXTRA OR DICHLOR SHOCK PER 10,000 GALLONS OF WATER AND CONTINUE RUNNING PUMP FOR 1 HOUR.
C. BACKWASH & RINSE SAND FILTER OR CLEAN CARTRIDGE or DE FILTERS THOROUGHLY.
D. ADD 2 OUNCES OF PRISTINE BLUE PER 1,000 GALLONS OF POOL WATER AND LET PUMP RUN FOR 1 HOUR.
🔴AQUASILK/BAQUACIL (BIGUINIDE) POOLS
A. ADD 1/2 GAL OF AQUASILK OR BAQUACIL SANITIZER PER 10,000 GALLONS OF WATER.
B. ADD 1 GAL AQUASILK OR BAQUACIL SHOCK PER 10,000 GALLONS OF WATER.

💦WINTERIZE PLUMBING
1. REMOVE EYEBALL/RETURN FITTING AND INSTALL A 1.5" THEADED PLUG W/ORING
2. REMOVE SKIMMER BASKET AND INSTALL A GIZZMO IF SKIMMER HAS THREADED OPENING IN BOTTOM. THIS WILL GUARD AGAINST FREEZE DAMAGE TO SKIMMER.
NOTE: DOING THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO MAINTAIN YOUR NORMAL WATER LEVEL WHICH MAKES COVERING AND UNCOVERING EXTREMELY EASIER, SPEEDS UP THE WINTERIZING & OPENING PROCESS, SAVES MONEY.

💦POOL EQUIPMENT
1. REMOVE DRAIN PLUGS FROM PUMP & FILTER & LET DRAIN THEN STORE.
2. AUTOMATIC CHLORINATOR-REMOVE CHLORINE TABLETS AND DRAIN PLUG
3. REMOVE SAND FROM FILTER SO THAT IT'S READY FOR NEW SAND NEXT SEASON

💦ANTIFREEZE
1. TO PROTECT YOUR POOLS LINER AND STRUCTURE, USE 1-2 GALLONS OF POOL ANTIFREEZE. POUR OUT JUST ENOUGH FROM THE JUG TO ALLOW AIR IN THE TAPERED NECK OF THE JUG SO THAT IT WILL PARTIALLY FLOAT IN THE WATER.
TIP-Do not pour out too much, otherwise the jugs will float too high in the water and when the water starts to freeze they will be pushed up on top of the ice which will defeat the purpose.
THIS PROCEDURE IS VITAL BECAUSE WHEN THE WATER FREEZES, THIS ALLOWS THE ANTIFREEZE JUGS TO BE INCAPSULATED IN THE ICE TO ABSORB ICE EXPANSION. THIS SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE PROCEDURE SAVES YOU MONEY AVOIDING DAMAGE TO YOUR POOL AND YOU'LL EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR POOLS LINER AND STRUCTURE. SOME BELIEVE THAT BY FLOATING TIRE INNER TUBES, FIRE WOOD LOGS AND OTHER INFLATABLES, THAT THEY ARE DOING BASICALLY THE SAME THING. NO!! IT IS NOT THE SAME THING! INFLATABLES FLOAT ON TOP OF THE WATER AND WOOD LOGS WILL NOT CONTRACT BECAUSE IT IS A SOLID OBJECT
NOTE: DO NOT USE AUTOMOTIVE ANTIFREEZE!! IT IS VERY TOXIC, PETROLEUM BASED AND WILL RUIN YOUR LINER AND POOL COMPONENTS!

💦AIR PILLOW & COVERING YOUR POOL
1. BEFORE COVERING POOL, TIE AN AIR PILLOW IN CENTER OF POOL, THIS IS TO SUSPEND THE COVER SO THAT WATER AND DEBRIS WILL STAY CLOSE TO EDGE OF THE POOL MAKING IT EASIER TO DRAIN OFF EXCESS WATER AND DEBRIS
2. COVER POOL & SECURE WITH CABLE & WRENCH, YOU MAY TIE JUGS PARTICALLY FILLED WITH WATER TO COVER GROMMETS TO WEIGHT COVER FROM WIND.
3. ADD 2 INCHES OF WATER ON TOP OF COVER TO KEEP IT DOWN FROM WIND.
4. YOU WILL NEED A COVER PUMP TO REMOVE EXCESS WATER FROM THE COVER DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. THIS WILL EXTEND THE LIFE OF THE COVER.

DO NOT ALLOW MORE THAN 10" OF WATER ACCUMULATE ON YOUR COVER OR IT WILL FALL IN FROM THE EXTREME WEIGHT DUMPING DEBRIS IN YOUR POOL CREATING A LOT OF WORK LATER PLUS CAUSING STRESS AND WEAR ON COVER, RESULTING IN TEARS AND HOLES WHICH ARE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY...
