💧 Do You Know Where Your Drinking Water Comes From? 💧
If you live in the Greater Anderson area, your public drinking water supply comes from Lake Hartwell and is treated by the Anderson Regional Joint Water System (ARJWS), which serves Clemson University and more than 200,000 residents across Anderson, Pickens, and Abbeville counties.
Protecting our water starts on land. When it rains, stormwater runoff carries pollutants such as litter, pet waste, fertilizers, oil, and sediment into local streams and ultimately Lake Hartwell. This is called non-point source pollution.
You can help by:
✅ Picking up pet waste
✅ Keeping litter and yard debris out of streets and storm drains
✅ Using fertilizers and pesticides responsibly
✅ Never dumping chemicals, oil, or paint into storm drains
Remember: Only rain belongs in the storm drain.
