Under the category of “small world”- I was at the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners Summer 2026 Conference in Las Vegas representing crime & trauma scene remediation, as the owner of 5 Bio-One locations in 3 states, when a woman named Mary Ann was asked up to our Bio-One vendor booth. I told Mary Ann that I have been in North Carolina, where she was from, 3 times in my career, including once as a Police Chief. She asked what city and it turned out that I had hired her husband as a police officer for the city many years ago. Steven Nunn is now Colonel and the number two executive in a large North Carolina Sheriff’s Office. Better yet, he was in Las Vegas with Mary Ann. Steven and I spent a couple hours talking about what we all did years ago together and where many people ended up years later.

It was awesome catching up with him after all these years. I am very, very proud of how far he has come and the good he has done in the world. It is indeed a small world.
