Mosquito Activity:

* We are happy to report that mosquito pest pressure has remained relatively low over the past week for both nuisance and vector species.
* Moderate daytime temperatures, cool nights, and breezy conditions have contributed to this welcome respite.

However, vigilance is key.

* Larval and breeding activity have been observed closer to homes due to the localized ambient heat and protection from wind.
* With increasing daytime temperatures, longer days, warmer nights, and rain forecasted for next week, we anticipate a potential rise in breeding and biting activity.
* Daylight Saving Time and the associated shift towards longer evenings with increased humidity will further contribute to this potential uptick.

Beyond Mosquitoes:

* Gnats (biting midges) have shown increased nuisance levels this week, coinciding with rising soil temperatures.
* Last weekend’s full moon triggered a slight emergence of adult mole crickets.
* Fire ants, ticks, and fleas are also becoming more active with the favorable weather conditions.
