Today's local business spotlight is M&P tire.
M&P tire has been in business in Springhill for almost 50 years. It was originally opened in 1978 as Bob’s Tire by Bob and Norma Mayfield. The name changed to M&P Tire when Mitch and Patricia Mayfield took over in 2022. The name has changed, but the quality of work has stayed the same. Any questions about tires you have; Mitch is your guy. You could spend all day looking up things on your phone and you wouldn’t scratch the surface of what he has learned in his 48 years of hands-on experience. Today's 2Bravo local spotlight is Cotton Valley Recreation.
Cotton Valley Recreation is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that Cheryl and Derek Rowe started because they want to give back to the community that they are raising their family in. While they were both volunteering with SPAR and helping coach, they saw how many children in the area were participating in youth sports. With so many teams sharing the available fields, they saw an opportunity to help by bringing the Cotton Valley ball field back to life. Last November they approached the town of Cotton Valley and asked for permission to restore the field at no cost to the town. Their goal is to complete the restoration by next summer so children and families can once again make memories on the Cotton Valley ball field. Everything they’ve done has been made possible through volunteers, donations, sponsorships, and community fundraisers. None of it would be possible without people willing to give their time and support. If there’s any way you can help, it’s tax deductible. Today's 2Bravo local business spotlight is Circle J Kennels.
Circle J Kennels is a family run business that has been here for over 40 years. It started with Jerry Moore training hunting dogs, doing obedience training, and training K9 dogs for Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office. Jerry’s daughter, Krystal Mouser, now runs the business. Krystal has dedicated her life to training dogs and has over 25 years of experience. Circle J’s other trainer Dana joined circle J in 2001 and now has over a decade of experience. Circle J kennels currently has a 40-acre training facility with a huge 3-acre pond. They train hundreds of dogs a year. They offer obedience training, duck dog training, and tracking training for that deer that you know you hit, but can’t find. If you need a safe comfortable place to board your dog when you’re away from home, they have 40 indoor, climate-controlled kennels that are like small little rooms to give your dog privacy. They also have an indoor play area, and airing yards that are surrounded by secure fencing that keep any dog in.
