COVID-19 disinfecting PLEASE SHARE AND READ.
How to properly disinfect and limit contact with the virus from a professional.

I thought I would do a write up for everyone so that they know how to stay safe by properly disinfecting surfaces and ways around having to touch items and foods. It's a long read but could keep you from getting sick so give it some time please.

Many of you unfortunately are not disinfecting anything properly. It's not that you haven't made a good effort it's just that you don't know the proper technics.

Using a disinfectant such as a liquid or wipe requires a 10 minute wet contact time on a non porous surface to disinfect coronavirus and almost everything the disinfectant is rated for.
Yes 10 minutes! Simply spraying a surface then wiping and or using a wipe will not do anything for you. Unfortunately I have seen business upon business fail at this task.

So this is how you do it if you want to disinfect surfaces.
Apply disinfectant to surface with spray bottle or wipe surface with saturated rag or towel and make sure said surface remains wet for 10 minutes. Use a stopwatch on your phone, smart device, watch, or actual stop watch to time it.

Now this only works if it is applied to the entire surface you want to disinfect. If you spray the top of a handle and not the bottom then you are missing areas and defeats your efforts.

Lets take a shopping cart for example, we see all the stores spraying and wiping the cart handles. This is ineffective sorry to say but it is unless you are making sure the surfaces are staying wet for 10 minutes. What about the rest of the cart too?

Now you think oh my goodness what am I going to do!
Well the simple answer is to first not wear gloves (save those for the healthcare workers that need them), you simply need to keep your hands from rubbing your eyes or touching your face or food that will be going into your mouth until you have a chance to properly wash your hands. Super simple right!

You are not going to get corona virus from shaking a hand or touching something if you wash your hands.

When you leave the store you can place your items in sink if they can get wet without ruining the items and spray them down with disinfectant. Don't forget ten minutes wet time, then rinse with fresh water. Simply cooking your vegetables is good enough. don't try to disinfect your vegetables but do wash them as you should anyways.

What can I do if I can't wash my hands?
If you can't wash your hands at the moment then use sanitizer until you get a chance to properly wash your hands. Now when using sanitizer you need to use enough to rub all over your hands for 15 seconds. Not the tiny amount most people think they need that goes away in seconds.
Make sure that you wash your hands once you have the chance. Sanitizer is only a temporary solution.

Getting take out food.
I have seen many places fail with cross contamination only by the people taking the money and handing out the food. They are wearing the same gloves contently then touching money and credit cards. Then they touch your boxes, bags, containers, and drinks. It's the baggers and front counter people you need to worry about.

The people making the food should be handling your food properly with sanitary food handling practices so I wouldn't be worried to much about this.

Well here is the simple solution.
When you pick up or have the food and or drinks delivered. bring food inside and set on counter, remove packages from bag or bags and set on counter and toss bags in trash. Open each container without touching your food inside. Go wash your hands.
(Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap.
Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer?
Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.)

Then use utensils to take food out of containers and place in clean bowl or on clean a plate. boom your done and safe.

Now if you got a drink get a cup big enough for said drink and then open drink up pour drink in cup without touching cup. Go wash hands.

Toss all containers in trash before or after you eat as long as you properly wash your hands before touching food or drinks.

We should be doing this stuff anyways especially during flu season.
