Phosphates are the essential nutrient for Algae to survive. Rid algae of it's food source and you can bring your chemistry down to a point where it's like bath water. The test kit I have in this pic is rated for 1000ppb and it maxes it out testing County spigot water. I've tested County water with test kits that max out at 3000ppb and you better believe your County water is that high if not higher in most areas in Sarasota.
Pic: 1yr old filter has a film of sludge after Phosphate treatment. That film is the p
Phosphates that were filter out through the treatment every 6-8 weeks in your pool.
I've also tested Rain coming from the East @ 500ppb (farmland, manufactured fertilizers etc..) and Rain coming from the West is @ 200ppb(Gulf water test at 200ppb...) so it will naturally get into the pool but not at the rate if we add County water. I've called the County and inquired about the Phosphates in our water system and they say it's to keep their infrastructure lasting longer underground because the phosphates create an anti-corrosion barrier in their pipes. I also understand it to be a derivative of Fluoride. I always wondered why the government is so obsessed with my teeth lol?
Fun fact: Your pool is approx 10,000 gallons of water. If we add 1" of county water to your pool or one hours worth, it will bring levels above 150ppb and Phosphate levels above 150ppb can start to cause issues with algae even if your chemistry is perfectly in tune.
Another little fun fact: Your body is 70% water or a few gallons. What will a quart of county water daily do to your internal ecosystem for your home. trust me, the county is also cleaning your pipes... :) Give us a ring if you'd like me to test out your pool 941-321-9543
