A little Halloween tip before the pumpkin carving begins! 🎃

Use a large baking tray underneath the pumpkin while carving. It catches the seeds, juice, and all that slippery pumpkin mess before it spreads across your kitchen.

And keep a bowl nearby for the seeds. You can wash and roast them later instead of throwing everything away!

Less cleaning afterward, and a nice little snack too.

An early Halloween cleaning tip from LZ:

Glitter is not dirt.

Glitter is a life decision.

If costume glitter gets on the floor, couch, or car seat, do not start by rubbing it with a wet cloth. Now you just made shiny paste.

Use a vacuum hose first.

Then try a lint roller or tape for fabric.

Then wipe what is left.

Same with little candy crumbs after the kids dump everything on the floor to trade.

Dry first. Wet second.

That one rule saves a lot of cleaning drama.

Cleaning rule that saves a lot of annoying work:

Start higher, then go lower.

Ceiling fan first.
Shelves before tables.
Counters before floors.
Bathroom mirror before sink.
Kitchen surfaces before mopping.

Because dust is rude.

It does not stay where you cleaned it.

If you mop first and then wipe the cabinets, now the floor gets crumbs and dust again.

This is why professional cleaners usually work from top to bottom.

It's not fun to do a whole house clean in order...

A little tip for baseboards:

Do not spray them first if they are dusty.
I know, everybody wants to spray and wipe.

But when dust is dry, remove it dry first.
Use a duster, vacuum brush, or dry microfiber cloth.

Then wipe with cleaner if it still needs it.

If you spray dusty baseboards right away, the dust turns into gray paste and now you are working harder.

Dry dust first.
Then clean.

Much easier, and the baseboards look nicer.

Use a dry microfiber cloth, duster, or vacuum attachment to remove the loose dust.
Then use your cleaner and wipe the surface.

If you spray first, the dust mixes with the cleaner and turns into a muddy film that's harder to remove.
