Spring Cleaning? We're here to help!

Take advantage of these 3 programs to get rid of your extra and bulky waste:

1. On-Call Clean-Ups/Bulky Item Pickups
Single-family customers can enjoy up to 4 free pickups per year. Multi-family customers can arrange these pickups for a fee. Reach out to Milpitas Sanitation (408-988-4500) to schedule one for yourself.

2. Self-Haul Voucher Program
Milpitas residents can score up to 2 FREE vouchers per year to drop off one vehicle load (up to 3 cubic yards – about as much as the back of a pickup truck) of approved bulky items at the Zanker Material Processing Facility. Contact Milpitas Sanitation (408-988-4500) to check eligible items and request a voucher.

3. Neighborhood Clean-Up Events
Five neighborhood clean-ups will be held in 2026. Contact the City of Milpitas (408-586-3341) or visit www.milpitas.gov/511/Neighborhood-Clean-Up-Events to find upcoming dates and locations and register for an event. Participation is limited to one event per year, and you MUST make an appointment to attend.

Attention Milpitas Single-Family Residents

Putting batteries inside your garbage, recycling, food scraps or yard trimmings cart may cause truck fires, but that doesn't mean we can't still pick them up! Tape the terminals on your A, AA, AAA, C, D & 9-volt batteries, place them in a clear zipper-lock bag, and set them on top of (not inside) your Blue Recyclables Split Cart on your pickup day. No car batteries or products with embedded batteries will be accepted.

Every year, millions of holiday trees end up in landfills instead of being recycled. Let’s help change that!

Milpitas Sanitation will collect natural holiday trees from January 2 – January 15, 2026. Artificial trees will NOT be accepted.

Single-Family Homes: Place your tree at the curb by 6:00 AM on your regular collection day during the two-week period. Leave at least 3 feet between your tree and your collection carts. Cut larger trees into pieces no longer than five feet.

Apartments, Condos & HOAs: Check with your property manager for collection instructions. Larger complexes may have a designated drop-off area while smaller complexes may allow for curbside collection.
