What would it feel like to see a mural you helped create permanently displayed in Sandy Hook Village? Better yet — what if you could help paint it too?

This year’s Rockin’ the Hook Concert will feature a one-of-a-kind community art fundraiser with a lasting impact. This project was created to help raise funds for the rebuilding of the Sandy Hook Village footbridge as part of our “Bridge the Hook” initiative. Every dollar raised will go directly toward this important community effort. Our first mural will become a permanent installation at the Heritage Park Pavilion (7 Glen Road) celebrating the people, places, and spirit that make Sandy Hook home.

It all begins with a community mural design contest, open to Newtown residents of all ages. The winning design will be transformed into a large-scale paint-by-square mural during our annual Rockin’ the Hook Concert on September 26, 2026.
On event day, the mural will be divided into individual squares, allowing community members and visitors alike to purchase a square and paint it themselves — becoming part of a lasting piece of Sandy Hook history.

This is more than a mural. It’s a permanent community art project created by many hands.
