Earlier this month, a Berkeley property manager contacted Smith’s Pest Management after finding damaged grass, loose soil, and uneven sections of lawn around the property’s parking lot.

During the initial visit, our technician lifted the damaged turf and cleared away the loose soil to find the source of the damage. He found an active gopher tunnel beneath the grass and placed traps inside the tunnel where the gopher was traveling.

One week later, our technician returned for a follow-up visit and found several gophers trapped. The property manager also reported no new damage.

Last month, a Fairfax homeowner contacted Smith’s Pest Management after noticing ants around a mature oak tree in his yard, and then finding ants inside his house.

During the visit, our technician inspected the oak tree and found carpenter ant activity around the trunk and roots. He treated the base of the tree, exposed roots, and surrounding soil with a liquid insecticide.

A few days after treatment, the homeowner reported fewer carpenter ants around the tree and no new ants inside his home.

A Danville property owner contacted Smith’s Pest Management after noticing several ground squirrel burrows around a young tree in his yard.

Our technician inspected the openings, checked for fresh digging, and identified the burrows the ground squirrels were actively using, then placed traps right within.

Our technician will return every few days to check the traps, look for new holes, and reset traps where needed. We’ll continue the follow-up visits until there are no signs of active ground squirrels on the property.

Two weeks ago, a San Jose homeowner contacted Smith’s Pest Management after noticing fresh gopher mounds spreading across their lawn.

Our technician used a probe to locate the active tunnel, found where the gophers were traveling, and placed traps inside the tunnel.

A few days later, he returned to check the traps. The result? The traps had caught gophers that were digging through the lawn.

Last week, a homeowner in Danville called Smith's Pest Management to schedule a free inspection after noticing several patches of grass turning brown and dying.

During the inspection, our technician found active gopher tunnels beneath the brown patches of grass.

He installed underground traps, returned to check and reset them during follow-up visits, and continued trapping until the activity stopped.

The result? The homeowner reported no new gopher activity or additional damage to the lawn.

Our technician inspected the landscape, located the main tunnel the gopher was traveling through, and placed traps there.

We also informed the property staff how to spot new gopher activity early on.
