🐜 Termite Tales: Nature Cleans Up Fast

This one came from a home in Sunnyvale shortly after a drywood termite treatment.

After the treatment was completed, ants suddenly started appearing around the area—and the reason was actually pretty interesting.

The ants were carrying away dead drywood termites!

A lot of people don’t realize this, but ants are natural scavengers and predators. Once the termites were exposed following treatment, the ants moved in quickly to take advantage of an easy food source.

It’s one of those strange things we occasionally see during termite work that most homeowners would probably never expect.

Nature has its own cleanup crew sometimes.

🐜 Termite Tales: The Fence Line Find

This one came from a home in Willow Glen—and it started with something small…

The homeowner noticed little piles of what looked like sawdust along a shared fence line with their neighbor.

It turned out to be drywood termite frass—a key sign that termites were active inside the wood, even though the fence itself still looked mostly intact.

Because the fence is shared, it’s not always obvious where the activity starts or how far it extends. In cases like this, it’s less about one side vs. the other—and more about understanding the full scope so it can be addressed properly.

🐜 Termite Tales: Kitchen Drawer Surprise

This one came from a home in Fremont—and it’s not where most people expect to find termites…

The homeowner noticed something felt off with a kitchen drawer. It wasn’t sliding right, and something just didn’t seem normal.

When we took a closer look, we found drywood termite activity inside the cabinet drawer structure itself 😳

They had already opted for a localized drywood termite treatment for other areas of the home, and we were able to address this spot as part of the process as well.

It’s a good reminder—termites don’t just stay hidden in walls. They can show up in cabinets, furniture, and built-ins too.

Sometimes the first sign is something small… like a drawer that doesn’t open quite right.

Are “free termite inspections” actually legit?

Yes—when you understand what they’re meant to do.

Most free inspections are limited inspections, and they’re a really valuable first step if you’ve noticed something unusual—like termite droppings, mud tubes, or discarded wings.

A limited inspection gives you:
• A closer look at the specific area of concern
• A professional opinion on what you’re seeing
• Clear next steps if treatment is needed

They’re not meant to be a full property evaluation—and that’s where confusion can happen.

We put together a quick guide to help explain what to expect and when a limited inspection is exactly what you need 👇

Are subterranean termite treatments safe for your family and pets?

It’s one of the most common questions we get—and a completely valid one.

Modern termite treatments are applied in the soil around your home, not inside your living space. When done properly, they’re designed to target termite activity while minimizing exposure to people and pets.

We broke it down in a simple, no-fluff guide for homeowners 👇

🐜 Seeing termite swarmers around your home?

Swarming termites are one of the most common early signs of termite activity, but what many homeowners don’t realize is that where you see them matters.

🏠 Swarmers inside your home
This may indicate an active colony nearby and it’s a good idea to schedule an inspection.

🌳 Swarmers outside your home
This doesn’t necessarily mean termites are in your house — but it’s still something worth paying attention to.

Our new guide explains what to look for.

Common signs include:
• 🪽 Wings
• 🪵 Kick-out holes
• 🟤 Pellet piles

Is your Bay Area home hiding a secret? 🏠🐜

It’s officially Termite Awareness Week, and in our neck of the woods, the "off-season" doesn't exist.

Whether you’re in the South Bay, Peninsula, or East Bay, our mild climate means colonies stay active 365 days a year. While you’re enjoying the weather, damage could be progressing quietly behind your drywall.

Why our region is a "Hot Zone":

- Historic Charm: Older housing stock with original framing is a magnet for activity.
- Construction Style: Crawlspaces and slab foundations provide easy, undetected entry points.
- High Turnover: Constant renovations and real estate sales can disturb—or mask—existing colonies.

Think of an inspection like servicing your HVAC or cleaning your gutters: It’s essential preventative maintenance.

If you own property in San Jose, Fremont, Livermore, Redwood City, Menlo Park, San Carlos, or the surrounding communities, this is a great week to think proactively.

Be proactive. Protect your investment.
