We got a call from a homeowner near the Glenn Park neighborhood of San Francisco to give his water heater a tuneup and to change out the anode rod.

What is an anode rod? Its a sacrificial rod inside the water tank that prevents your tank from rusting out. Replacing the anode rod every few years is a must if you want to significantly extend the lifespan of your water heater and help avoid an early replacement.
