Most homeowners never look behind their dryer — and what we find back there can be the real problem.
At Coastal Dryer Vent Cleaning, we perform a complete inspection and cleaning from both inside and outside the home. Many issues can’t be seen from the exterior vent termination alone, which means “outside-only” cleanings can miss important problems.
Common issues we find include:
• Crushed, kinked, or torn transition hoses
• Clogged rear dryer vents
• Improper, disconnected, or missing ducting
The photo here from a cleaning this week is a good example. This crushed transition hose behind the dryer was severely restricting airflow. When this happens, lint builds up faster, drying times increase, and the dryer has to work much harder than it should—creating a potential fire hazard and, with gas dryers, the risk of carbon monoxide buildup.
If these areas aren’t checked and cleaned, airflow may not improve even if the outside vent looks clear.
Our standard is to clean the entire system and restore proper airflow for safety and efficiency.
Proper airflow helps dryers:
• Dry clothes faster
• Run more efficiently
• Reduce fire risk
