We left the dock yesterday with 30 pieces of primo sardine from Everingham Bros Bait Co. and ended to up with 20 mix fish for our group. Yesterday was the first time this season we had multiple mix species kelps. Dorado, yellowtail and yellowfin. Some of you are wondering why we only had 30 pieces of bait and we have had a major bait shortage with the bait boats just not being able to find enough to fix up the fleet and private boats. As the bait system work it starts with servicing long range trips and works the way down to over night and full day boats. Us being at the bottom of the latter we have had to suffer a bit on bait. That is the honest answer and we know it’s no one’s fault but just can’t find the bait. We are hoping things change but like any business you have things you have to deal with from day to day. We would like to thank Everingham Bros Bait Co. and all the boys at the receiver for always keeping us informed and in the know. Bait is just not a given thing but it’s fishing and sometimes it’s just not there. So always like to be transparent with our customers as we move though the season. A windy day today, some classic bait grounds fishing below the border popped up on the desktop. It was 2013 and building the company one anchor job at a time, jigging our bait and reset on droppers. The textures in the video, the boat and life. What a time in our fishery. The 2026 offshore season is underway and we are having a blast on some better grade yellowfin. Ian and his group and to reschedule for a lot of south wind on Friday and changed to yesterday to dream offshore conditions. We had some long time friends and one of our first customers almost back 20 years ago Bill Swift and Roxanne Swift out for the day. We talked about it for years and the day finally came to take the grandkids out for a day of fishing. Yes you know what this couple loved to target. Red Vermillion and Lingcod was our target and first drop young man gets tight. Thank you guys for all the years and some of my most favorite memories catching tanker seabass, loosing your wedding ring in a big bluefin and all the cods you could eat in a lifetime! Love you guys!
