POV: You designed a backyard pool that is perfectly set up for late-night swims, even as the days get shorter. 🌊

Extending your pool season past Labor Day means thinking about how your space functions after dark.

With the right setup, you don't have to close things down just because the sun goes down early:
- Keep the water inviting and usable late into the evening
- Create a safe, beautifully lit environment for night swims
- Make the most of your backyard investment all season long

Every detail should have a purpose so you can swim with confidence at any hour.

Let us help you design the perfect layout.

It’s not just a pool.

It’s where Sunday afternoons turn into dinners.
Where friends stay long after the sun goes down.
Where kids make memories.
Where conversations last a little longer.
Where everyday life feels a little more like a getaway.

Because the best backyard isn’t just something you look at.
It’s somewhere you live.

A backyard should have something for everyone.

A slide for the kids. A spa for slowing down. Open water for swimming, playing, and everything in between.

In San Diego, where outdoor living is part of the lifestyle, the best pool designs go beyond a single purpose.

They create a place where every member of the family has their own reason to stay awhile.

Here is one surprisingly simple way to make your poolside seating area less inviting to mosquitoes: turn on a fan.

Mosquitoes are weak fliers, so steady airflow near your patio or seating area can help keep them away. 🦟 Find more practical mosquito-control ideas in the full blog post:

A raised beam is both a structural and design element that helps create separation, dimension, and visual interest within a pool.

In a design like this one, the raised wall creates a distinct elevation change between different areas of the pool. It can also be used to:

- Define separate spaces within one pool design
- Create a strong architectural focal point
- Add height and dimension to an otherwise flat poolscape
- Create opportunities for waterfalls, spillways, or scuppers
- Visually separate a spa or shallow area from the main pool
- Tie the pool into surrounding retaining walls and landscaping
- Give the pool a more custom, resort-style appearance

Daylight shows you the design. Nighttime shows you the atmosphere.
The same pool can feel fresh and energetic under the sun, then transform into a warm, inviting retreat after dark.

One backyard. Endless ways to experience it.
