At 81 years young—and still counting with a gentler dance and smile—I’m always on the lookout for simple ways to keep the engine humming. That’s why I’m pointing you toward this Wellness webinar from Integrative Practitioners on the benefits of nitric oxide as we age--led by an MD and a chief science officer of a supplement company. Sure, that pairing might raise a tiny eyebrow about bias, but the content is still worth a listen. Give it a try—and if you really want to make it interesting, invite your doctor to watch along.

Who knows, you might both have a fascinating conversation to benefit you both. My clinical nutritionist pointed me toward adding nitric oxide to my eating and supplement regimen over the past seven years. Along with a few other helps as I age gracefully, think of it as a little “molecular pep talk” for your circulation. If you’re curious about staying vibrant, sharp, and delightfully hard to keep up with, give it a watch.

Tammany Hall, 19th Century

While researching and writing book two of a historical novel series (book one - Lady of the Street: Beginnings), set in late 19th and early 20th century New York, I discovered an uncanny parallel of time and corruption being confronted. It is astonishing to witness the similarities between a recent third Senate hearing on fraud and foreign influence in state and federal programs and the battles fought 150 years ago against Tammany Hall and its allies.

Tammany Hall tightened its grip on immigrant communities by trading jobs and protection for votes while siphoning millions from local, state, and federal assistance programs meant to help the very people it claimed to serve. It turned the desperate need of immigrants flooding Ellis Island and hidden in New York's tenements into political currency and public funds into private profit.

As we watch our nation and the world react to Charlie Kirk’s assassination, what does it all tell us? Do some of us remain in shock? Are we shedding tears over such a tragedy, or are some even celebrating that this man is no longer with us?

Maybe it’s time to look in the mirror and see what we discover about ourselves. In that stillness, feeling the weight of the world, I wait to understand my place in it. In the meantime, I will attempt to offer my perspective as we all navigate our lives in the times ahead. I hope this article, though somewhat long, will offer a helpful perspective for us all.

National and Global Responses

Charlie Kirk’s assassination on the Utah Valley University campus in Orem, Utah, September 10, triggered a seismic wave of grief, introspection, challenges to our faith, and political reckoning across the globe. This was to be his first stop of his American Comeback Tour. The shooting occurred at approximately 12:23 p.m.

🧍‍♂️Forging Futures: How Boerne Champion High School Is Reviving the Trades

In a world increasingly obsessed with digital credentials and four-year degrees, a quiet revolution is taking place in Boerne, Texas—one that trades textbooks for torches and theory for tangible skill. At the heart of this movement is Boerne Champion High School’s welding program, recently elevated through a groundbreaking partnership with HOLT CAT, the largest Caterpillar dealer in the nation. Thirty-five students earned American Welding Society certifications this spring, stepping directly into high-demand careers that are reshaping the American workforce.

This isn’t just a local success story—it’s a blueprint for how vocational education can restore dignity, purpose, and prosperity to a generation often told that college is the only path forward.

Since I live in the Texas Hill Country area, I felt a need to share some thoughts on the tragic events since July fourth. When I now hear helicopters over my Texas hill country home near the Guadalupe River, I find myself reeling through multiple waves of emotions. What rises up is an odd disconnect, almost guilt with gratitude, for my family being safe while others are living through a tragic time of surreal along with rising waves of desperate hope and grief at the same time.

Responders just found a child's body on a close friend's property with 30ft high of debris to be removed, knowing they may find more bodies. In fact, two more were found next to our friend's property, an adult and child. Heartbroken along with responders, never to forget. Oh sweet Jesus, such heartbreak! Be close to our friend and the child's family. May this child be honored and always with a heart of loving remembrance.
