Should I kennel my dog while you’re here?

We get this question quite a bit, and our answer is pretty simple:

If your dog is friendly… please leave them out because they WILL BE PETTED. 🥰🐶

We absolutely don’t mind pets roaming around while we clean. In fact, some of our favorite coworkers have four legs, contribute absolutely nothing but barks and fur to the cleaning process, and still demand several breaks throughout the day for scratches.

As long as your pet is comfortable having new people in their space and isn’t likely to bolt out an open door, they’re more than welcome to supervise us, follow us from room to room, inspect our work, or nap directly in the spot that we’re trying to vacuum.

Of course though, if your pet is anxious, territorial, an escape artist, or just happier tucked away somewhere quiet while we work then that’s completely okay too. You know them best.

Cleaning Myth Wednesday. Should I use toilet bowl cleaner to remove hard water stains on my shower?

No, that's the short answer; but let me tell you why you shouldn't.
Toilet bowl cleaner will absolutely remove the hard water stains on your tub and shower surround, it will actually make it look brand new. However, toilet bowl cleaner is *very* acidic - its designed for cleaning porcelain toilets... not fiberglass, acrylic, natural stone, or other shower finishes.

Over time it will damage protective coatings and dull the finish, which shortens the lifespan of your shower surround. Eventually, after enough applications of the toilet bowl cleaner it will permanently stain your shower surround (toilet bowl cleaner is often a dark blue color). I've come across a handful of blue stained showers and tubs, there is no way to remove the stain - you have to replace the entire tub and shower surround.

If you're dealing with stubborn hard water stains, there are much safer way to remove them. We'd much rather help you clean it than see you accidentally damage it.

Meet the face of Kat's Cleaning, our lovely logo - Kat the Cleaner.

If you've visited our website recently (katscleaningslc.com) you've probably noticed something new... our updated logo and branding. This hard working badass lady isn't just our mascot... she's Kat. Like, *the* Kat from Kat's Cleaning.

Kat founded Kat's Cleaning in 1998 with a simple belief: treat every clients home with the same care and respect as your own, and that a clean house can genuinely turn around a bad day. Through hard work, kindness, and an incredible dye for detail, she built a company that has served family's across the Salt Lake Valley for almost 30 years.

If you haven't had the opportunity to know Kat, one of the things that she valued most was art. Kat was an incredibly talented artist herself and she was most known for her geeky altered landscape painting that she sells through her website (katmartinartist.com) and at Comicons around the country. We chose to respect her love of the arts by hiring an actual artist to create our logo...

Cory Connell, a local SLC tattoo artist who creates bold colorwork and blackwork designs with a traditional backbone created our lovely Kat the Cleaner logo. You can check out his work on Instagram and DM him to book appointments there.
