The pigeons are ruining your roofs!

Here we have a roof in daybreak with a lot of pigeon 💩 on it. First side hasn’t been cleaned while the other one has. I was hired to come and clean it off and for good reason. The urea and other chemicals in the f***s degrade your shingles and can cause a roof to need to be replaced in half the time of a normal lifespan.

Like most soft washing services we use sodium hypochlorite (bleach) to get the f***s off and make sure the scent is gone so the pigeons don’t smell it and come back after dinner

THIS is why proper roof and gutter maintenance is important. Specifically ice dams and frozen gutters.

Without the ability to drain, the water drips over the sides of the gutters and onto the surface below. As you can see here, it has created quite the slide.

It gets better.

As the sun melts the snow and ice slowly, the water drains right down this slide and right on top of this persons window. It created a leak into the living room, too!

We came over and took care of the ice and snow near the window so that a contractor could come and fix the leak.

Basically, the lesson here is:

1. Clean your gutters!
2. If you notice large icicles and ice dams, message us to come and take care of them for you!
3. Install heat elements in your gutters to keep them thawed all winter! It’ll be a great investment!!

These are your gutters.

When it rains and snows, the water can’t escape and it just sits in the gutter. What problems can this cause?

1. Ice Dams - causes your roof to leak into your attic, that’s a big issue 🧊

2. Mosquitos - It isn’t the season quite yet, but in 2-3 months they will be multiplying faster than you can swat them away. All thanks to the perfectly still water🦟

3. Gutter Damage - That’s a lot of weight for your gutters to hold. They can start to leak, bend, or even fall from your roof.

4. Icicles - When water can’t get down the spout, it goes over the edge. It can cause icicles to form which can be pretty, but dangerous!

5. Lawn damage - When it drips over the edge, it leaks onto the dirt or lawn below, causing there to be holes in your yard
