Stainless Steel Pools in US?
Someday I want our forever home to have a pool (in the US). I'm familiar with gunite and fiberglass but this weekend I went to public pool (in Germany) and was surprised to find it was stainless steel. It was really quite nice. It was modern, clean, and the surfaces had an interesting pattern/texture. Are stainless steel pools a thing in the US? Can they be reasonably sourced and installed, or are they so far niche that it's likely cost prohibitive for most people?

CYA above 100 + dark spots spreading across floor of vinyl pool. Procedure Help
I am currently draining about 3-4 inches and refilling to lower the CYA since the first test came back above 100. I plan to do this about 10 times total before retesting.
Meanwhile, this dark stain continues to spread across the floor of the vinyl. I rubbed a chlorine puck against the stains and they went away mostly for about a day. This lead me to think that the normal chlorine requirements just wasn't reaching the stains to fight them.
So I think I'm in a chlorine lock from what I've read. Do you guys think this draining/refilling procedure will help with the stains? I also bought some citric acid to try out after the CYA is lowered.

We are buying our first house and one of the first things we would like to do is install and unground pool. We aren't wanting anything big or with bells and whistles. Just something simple since we are a small family of 3. please post pics of your smaller pools and what you paid for them!

Trouble Calibrating Salt Water Chlorinator

At home test kit read 2020 ppm but the controller read 3300. I added 3 bags of salt (120 lbs). issue now is that the test reads 2900 ppm but the controller read 4900. when I attempt to "calibrate" based on the instant salt reading it reads "-5100" or so but only goes down to "-4900" and then stops. I just made sure to let it filter for several hours and then checked again and it did the exact same thing. This is a hayward aquarite 900 with a 9 series cell. the whole unit and cell were installed in March. The salt cell setting is correct to the best of my knowledge. what can I do to get the reading to match the actual salt level?

In the last few days, the motor of my pump started to scream something like "oooooo" that is getting louder and louder.
Based on the fact that it is also leaking a little bit of water and there is salt around the bolts, I would assume that a seal went bad and caused water to get into the bearing and they are now screaming for a replacement.
The pump is Jandy FloPro 1 HP model FHPM (single speed). The original motor model is R0479311. I have a salt water chlorinator and solar panels on the roof (single story house). I have no idea of the age of the pump and motor, as I recently bought the house.
I did some research and found a site that sells a bearing and shaft seal kit for $50 and it seems I would also have to buy a bearing puller for $40. The advantage is that I would spend just $90. The disadvantage is that I've never done anything like this and I am not sure if I would face any difficulty.
At Leslie's, they said that if I brought my motor they would sell me a replacement (likely not the OEM), with one year warranty for about about $220 plus $30 for a seal, plus tax. The advantage is that it would be a simpler disassembly/assembly and the warranty. The disadvantage is of course the cost.
I also found a few replacement motors on the web made by Century A.O. Smith for about $190. The advantage of course is the price, but I am not sure if it is indeed a like for like replacement and I wonder about the quality as it seems much cheaper than the OEM.

That said, my questions are:
1- Is it difficult for a newbie to replace the bearings and seals?
2- What are the replacement brands and models I could buy besides the OEM? Any suggestions of a website reliable with good prices?
3- What would you recommend and why?

As I will be out of town next week, for now I am reducing the pump hours from 8/day to 4/day and closed the valves to the solar panels, assuming this will give the pump a break (no pun intended).

Losing our minds! We just bought a house with a pool and it’s just getting worse. Help!
It’s probably a 50k gallon pool. Its very large. Chlorine. We had a problem with too much CYA and not enough free chlorine. We have tried CYA remover and algicide. And somehow the algae is getting worse. We are going to buy a sump pump and try draining some of it and scrubbing the walls with chlorine. Is this the next best step?
