Throwing out a reminder to get your dryer vent cleaned out. If you are having trouble with clothes taking longer than they should to dry, you could have a clog If it gets bad enough, it could back so far up that the heat causes humidity and your lint will be damp, (as it was in this case) which could lead to a fire. Luckily we caught this one before it got to that point but very scary and dangerous. Glad we could help this household out.

Client had trouble with dryer not drying very well, come to find out there was a full bird nest built inside their duct clogging it completely. Annual dryer vent cleanings are recommended to help prevent any unwelcome guests and just to have your dryer working at peak efficiency.

The dryer vent we cleaned out today, we found totally clogged up on top of the roof at the exhaust. It was about 5” thick packed in. So much so, that when we unattached the hose at the dryer water came pouring out. All of the moisture from the heat and drying clothes was trapped and couldn’t get out so it was filling their vent with water. Very dangerous and lucky a fire was not started. We had a dangerous find today in a clients dryer vent. Whoever had cleaned their vent out the last time, broke off and left their brush inside the vent. It became very clogged with so much moisture that the lent was soaking wet and packed. If you are having problems with your clothes not drying properly give us a call so we can make sure there are no obstructions. Thankful that this did not cause a fire for this family.

Make sure you are cleaning and checking your lint trap after every load. The area behind this lint trap was fully clogged up, probably in part to their lint trap being cracked and not setting properly in the slot. This duct went under the house and was not taped together so when we went to clean it out, it came apart. We had to reconnect and tape together for a stronger duct. Dryer vent hoods usually have this mesh covering on them and they should NOT be on there for this very reason. Unless you are able to check it very often, these can get clogged up quickly and block the exhaust, causing a back up, and ultimately a house fire. Please have your dryer vents checked and cleaned yearly.

Today, after cleaning the vent to the outside of the house, we noticed two rags lodged inside of our clients lint trap along with a ton of lint. This is a HUGE safety hazard that could have caused a fire. We also took a look inside the dryer where we noticed there was a lot of build up around the motor. Once we got it all cleaned up, we had a very satisfied and thankful client!

On this job, we noticed something was off during our cleaning. After going into the attic to check, we found that their duct had been disconnected and was blowing all the heat and lint into their attic. We reconnected it and got it back to looking as good as new.
