This week, we highlight Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, a fearless pastor and civil rights leader whose bold faith in Christ fueled his fight against segregation in Birmingham, Alabama.
A founding member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, he organized marches, boycotts, and sit-ins rooted in biblical conviction. Despite surviving bombings, brutal beatings, and constant death threats, he refused to back down, believing God had called him to stand for justice. His leadership in the Birmingham Campaign helped pave the way for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, leaving a lasting legacy of faith in action.
