HOUSE CLEANERS — PLEASE READ THIS.
That strong “clean” smell might not be as harmless as you think.
When you’re a professional cleaner, you aren’t exposed to chemicals once a week.
You’re breathing them in.
Getting them on your skin.
Spraying them into the air.
For hours. Every. Single. Day.
Long-term or repeated exposure to certain harsh cleaning chemicals — such as products like Zep — can carry some serious risks:
🫁 LUNG PROBLEMS
Chronic irritation and occupational asthma.
🧠 NERVOUS SYSTEM EFFECTS
Certain solvents can affect the brain and nervous system with significant exposure.
⚠️ ORGAN DAMAGE
Some chemicals carry warnings for organ damage after prolonged or repeated exposure.
🖐️ CHRONIC SKIN DAMAGE
Dermatitis, irritation, cracking and chemical burns.
🎗️ CANCER & REPRODUCTIVE HAZARDS
Certain ingredients found in cleaning products are classified or listed for these hazards.
And here’s the thing:
You don’t need heavy-duty chemicals for everything.
For everyday cleaning, I often keep it simple:
Dawn dish soap + rubbing alcohol + water.
Save the heavy-duty products for when they’re actually necessary. Read your SDS. Ventilate. Wear proper protection. Follow the label.
We make a living taking care of other people’s homes.
Don’t sacrifice your own health doing it.
