Sprayed the grove yesterday. It is sprayed at least monthly with a rotation of various insecticides/miticides, Homobrassinolide, Saver, Cyan (seaweed extract), and micronutrients. Aura Citrus and copper hydroxide are used spring through fall. OTC injections are applied in spring. Blockade soil drench is used during the rainy season for canker control. Controlled release fertilizer is applied 4 times per year and zinc and boron is soil applied monthly. All of this has become necessary to combat citrus greening disease. Quite a challenge that I thoroughly enjoy!

Sprayed the grove yesterday, 1-8-22. Sprayed with insecticides, oil, nutritionals, and Diamond Thrive, a supplement with humic and fulvic acid to help counteract citrus greening. Then, drenched the small trees to keep out psyllids and leafminers for several months.

Quite enjoyable if you like growing things!

Sprayed the grove and shrubs today. Sprayed with spray oil, movento for psyllids, mites etc, abound for alternaria to protect the honeybells (used once a year very effectively against a disease that used to be a serious problem), nutritionals, seven for extra help with psyllids, agrimek for mites, and a surfactant. Lots of extra work and chemicals in the effort to keep the grove productive in the fight against the psyllid spread disease citrus greening. The end result makes it worthwhile. :)

Sprayed the orange grove. Hit it with a cocktail with nutrients, insecticides, and miticides designed to manage citrus greening, among other things. Crop looks to be coming along nicely, with navels almost ready. Honeybells usually come in after Christmas. Lot of work goes into a grove these days, but the results make it most enjoyable.

Started vacation from our business Friday afternoon. I guess you'd call it a working vacation to start. Spent Saturday spraying the grove, yesterday watched church service on Youtube, then fertilized the grove, and put out herbicide for weeds and burned the brush pile this morning. Lot of effort goes into keeping a healthy, productive grove since the arrival of citrus greening some years ago, but its not minded at all . Very satisfying when done. Now we're thinking about setting out a few more navels which means also adding irrigation line, etc. When I get that done I think we'll go to our secluded beach later this week, pretty sure its back open. Then maybe check out a couple restaurants at off peak hours (25% occupancy). Not a bad vacation considering...

Don't have just citrus here, we've also got a few nectarines, plums and cherries for our own use. Was out in the grove and noticed we've got ripe nectarines right now. They sure don't taste like what they sell in the stores. Delicious! Working out in the grove takes the mind off all that's going on in our world lately. Must say it's quite therapeutic. Weather is great here right now too...

Fertilized the grove today with 15-2-15, a complete citrus fertilizer. Put urea on it about a month ago.

06/23/2018

Fertilized the grove on 5-26-18 and sprayed it on 6-03-18. That's got to be done about every 3 months to combat greening. That and keeping it well watered.
