Duncan Arizona wasn't always Duncan
 and it wasn't even always in the same damn spot 😂

Before the town we know today there was Purdy on the other side of the Gila River. Then the railroad came along and basically changed everything.

Turns out Duncan picked itself up crossed the river changed its name and followed the railroad 😂

If you’re from Duncan or anywhere around the Gila Valley, you’ve probably heard the last name Merrill
 but while digging into that name I found a story from 1895 that I damn sure wasn’t expecting. And chances are, you’ve driven right past where it happened. 👀

 but not all of them are sitting where you can go walk through them. 👀

Under Alamo Lake in Mohave County sits what’s left of Alamo Crossing — an old mining settlement that eventually disappeared beneath the reservoir after Alamo Dam was built.

Arizona history gets a little weird when the damn ghost town is underwater. 😂

100 years of the Graham County Fair 🎡

From livestock, horse shows and homemade pies to frog jumping, greased-pole climbing and goat milking
 all the way to carnival rides and monster trucks.

A whole lot has changed since 1926 — and somehow, after 100 damn years, we’re STILL doing the three-legged race. 😂

You’ve probably driven past American Legion Post 28 in Clifton without realizing just how much history is sitting inside those walls.

From its Morenci roots to the old Phelps Dodge Mercantile building, the Morenci Nine, and a bottle of tequila that waited decades for the last man standing
 this little building carries one hell of a story.

Sometimes the best history is hiding right in plain sight.

One of my followers over at the jiu-jitsu place asked me to dig into the history of their building at 408 W. Main
 and that little address sent me on one hell of a chase. 😂
Turns out, sometimes following the address gets you nowhere. You have to follow the names.
From O’Bryan’s furniture business in the 1920s to Bellman’s Department Store in the ’40s, there’s a whole lot more hiding behind 408 W. Main than I expected.
Just another piece of Safford history we walk past every damn day. ❀
