Big goals have a habit of making us overlook small actions.

We think about where we want to be months or years from now, but the person capable of reaching that destination is built through what we choose to do today.

“If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”

The lesson isn't really about a bed. It's about standards.

Do the small things well. Keep the promises you make to yourself. Prepare before you're expected to. Take responsibility without needing recognition. Create habits that make excellence your normal, not something you turn on when someone is watching.

Leadership starts there.

Before you lead a team, a project, a company, or anyone else, learn to lead yourself.
Start small. Be consistent. Hold the standard.

Then do it again tomorrow.

Summer may be winding down, but yellowjackets certainly aren't.

Late summer and early fall are actually some of the busiest times for yellowjacket activity because colonies have reached their largest populations. If you notice yellowjackets repeatedly flying in and out of the same hole, roofline, wall void, or area of your yard, there may be an established nest nearby.

Keep outdoor trash covered, clean up fallen fruit, watch open drinks while you're outside, and avoid disturbing areas where you notice consistent yellowjacket traffic.
