Congratulations to Elaina Hall on receiving the Troop Foundation Scholarship and the Ted & Clara Gentry Memorial Scholarship. Elaina will be attending Arkansas Tech University this fall and plans on majoring in business. The Troop scholarship is named in honor of Mr. William "Bill" Throop, who served the AWEA in numerous capacities during his career until his death during his term as WEF Director for Arkansas. The Ted and Clara Gentry Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance for college to Arkansas residents whose parents work for a water or wastewater utility.

Congratulations also to Misty Barron on being awarded the James A. Bailey Memorial Scholarship for Environmental Science Educator of the Year! This honor is awarded to an Arkansan who strives to inspire fellow Arkansans, young and old, with enthusiasm and desire to protect the state's water environment, understand environmental issues and further environmental education. Misty is the lead science teacher at Russellville High School. She brings her AP Environmental Science classes to City Corporation each year for a tour and education opportunity for her students. We are super proud for you both to represent our community and City Corporation!

Congratulations to Greg Kremers as the recipient of the Mike Thomason Wastewater Manager of the Year Award! Greg is responsible for the direct supervision of the pretreatment program, wastewater treatment plant, and laboratory staff. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and the decisions that affect the Pollution Control Works to ensure compliance with stringent permit limits. Managing a plant that receives a significant amount of industrial loading, presents unique challenges that must be constantly navigated and solved to meet those limits. Greg has also been involved in in the planning and design of the Pollution Control Works peak flow improvements, which will reduce concerns for overflow violations during times of heavy precipitation. He has received the honor of being the Pretreatment Coordinator of the Year in 2022. Way to go Greg!

Congratulations to Keith Gray on being awarded the WEF Bedell Award 2026! Keith is our Capital Projects Coordinator at City Corporation. The Bedell Award was established to acknowledge extraordinary personal service to a WEF Member Association. The award is named for Arthur Sidney Bedell, WEF's second president, for his long devotion and service to the New York Sewage and Industrial Wastes Association, now the New York Water Environment Association. Keith was instrumental in the construction and management of the Huckleberry Creek Reservoir, our drinking water source. He has served in many vital roles at City Corporation throughout the years including positions as Construction Manager and Water Plant Manager before joining our Engineering Department. Steve Mallett, CEO, says, “Keith has worked in and added value to many areas within City Corporation and is always willing to help whatever department needs it. Keith’s knowledge and dependability is exceptional and we are lucky to have had him for more than 30 years at City Corporation!” The Bedell Award is a lifetime achievement award that he both well-deserves and is a confirmation of his commitment to providing safe and reliable water and wastewater services to the River Valley. Congratulations again Keith!
