If you know me, you know I don’t like being told, “There’s nothing you can do about that.”

That is exactly what led me to become a Certified Color & Dye Technician.

Some problems cannot be solved with cleaning alone. Bleach removes color. Dyes can migrate. Sunlight can cause fading. White knots can become distracting on a beautiful handmade rug. These are color problems—and they require an entirely different set of skills to correct.

This certification allows me to take the textile knowledge I already have and go one step further: carefully restoring color where possible, while respecting the fibers, construction, and history of each piece.

I’m excited to begin offering these specialized services through DG Textile Care. And yes—I am absolutely ready for the challenging ones.

📣📣 This is what we mean when we say your rug can hold more than twice its weight in dirt and soil!

Rugs can hold a surprising amount of dry soil deep within their pile and foundation. Even when the surface looks clean, sand, dust, grit, and other particles can remain trapped below.

Before washing we always vacuum upside down to loosen any embedded soil. Watch as we roll up this rug and reveal the dark trails and clumps of dirt left behind on the floor.🤯

This abrasive soil can grind against wool fibers whenever the rug is walked on, contributing to premature wear. Thorough dry-soil removal is an essential first step in professional rug cleaning.

Thank you to everyone that donated to Rugs for Classrooms this year! We had 70 rugs go in 30 minutes. It was a whirlwind affair!

Don't forget we collect rugs all year. Give us a call before you pitch it! A teacher may love it for their classroom!

Our Rugs for Classrooms event is August 8th. We are cleaning rugs everyday in preparation!

If you are a teacher, know a teacher or a school that needs a free rug for their school or classrooms, share our event!

This event is for teachers only, please bring teacher ID. We have 4x6 to 10x14 rugs available. Total is looking to be about 70 or so. I will have a final count closer to the event.

All rugs have been donated by the community, churches, business and schools!

All rugs will be cleaned and ready for use! We will have volunteers on hand to help!
