Tadmor sluice gate rehabilitation project.

Tadmor was a small town near Vandalia Ohio, which was destroyed in the great flood of 1913. There are small remnants left behind to this day near our project site within the Taylorsville metro park.

The sluice gate from this project once controlled the flow of the Erie Canal, once the Taylorsville dam was created - the sluice gate was no longer in use and became a part of history.

Our goal for this project was to regain access to the “buckeye trail” within the park, which has been blocked for over 10 years.

We installed a 42” x 25’ galvanized culvert, situated with a 6’ x 12’ concrete wall.

We were required to divert water for 1 week within the creek.

Being hundreds of feet off the bike path, pouring concrete and creating access for equipment was a difficulty.

What a great project completed for the City of Oxford.

2 goals in mind for this project
• Create a flushing point
• Reduce iron content due to a tee from well #5.

We pre fabricated a 24” ductile stick fitted with a wye, tee and butterfly valve. This stick weighed nearly 7,000 lbs.

With an 8 hour shutdown, our timing was critical to cut and remove the existing, and set our pre fabricated stick.

We finished at 7 hours and 50 mins, im very proud of what we accomplished.

3 150’ leach lines totaling 450’ using 22x8” LP chambers.

Interceptor / gradient drain surrounding the leach bed.

4” of topsoil will be graded around the tank when the build is complete.
