🔍 Up Close and Personal: What Active Termites Actually Look Like
It's one thing to hear about termites, but it's another thing to see them in action. Our team snapped this clear close-up during a local termite treatment right here in Riverside to show you exactly what to look for.
If you look closely at the photo, you can see the active drywood termite workers and soldiers crawling over the wood. But notice all those tiny, dark, seed-like pellets scattered everywhere around them? That is frass—termite droppings.
Because drywood termites live entirely inside the wood they consume, they kick these pellets out of tiny kick-out holes to keep their tunnels clean. Often, homeowners mistake these piles for sawdust, dirt, or coffee grounds. But if you see consistent little piles appearing in the exact same spot after you clean them up, you are looking at an active infestation.
Spring and summer are prime times for termite activity in the Inland Empire. Don't let them quietly devalue your home from the inside out!
